Punta Jaguar: Design and Durability in the Wild Heart of the Osa Peninsula
Custom uPVC windows and doors for one of the most demanding environments in Costa Rica.

Today, we want to share Punta Jaguar, an exceptional project located in Matapalo, Puerto Jiménez, on the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica. We worked in collaboration with Constructora MACO to bring this residence to life through custom-made PVC windows and doors, specifically designed for the region’s climate and needs.
Punta Jaguar is located in one of the most remote and biodiverse areas of Costa Rica. It sits very close to Corcovado National Park, a place often described as one of the most biologically intense regions on the planet.

A journey to el Golfo Dulce
The project was developed over the course of a year, beginning with the architectural drawings and the initial quotation process. From there, we produced custom physical samples so the client could review them in person.
Our first site visit was unforgettable. Reaching the property requires a 4x4 vehicle, due to the long stretches of gravel road and the steep mountain inclines. The journey itself is spectacular, winding along the curves of Golfo Dulce through dense tropical rainforest and ocean views. The property is located near Lapa Ríos, a well-known eco-lodge, in a region especially popular with surfers. This is also the same area where Costa Rican professional surfer Brisa Hennessy grew up, which adds cultural value to the location.

A home designed to breath
Punta Jaguar’s architecture is open, natural, and deeply connected to its surroundings. The home does not rely on air conditioning; instead, it takes advantage of cross ventilation and open spaces that allow the environment to flow naturally through the interior.
The clients and their architect had a very clear design intention: they wanted the warmth and character of wood, but without the constant maintenance it requires in a coastal tropical rainforest environment.
This region presents significant challenges. The combination of humidity, salinity, and limited access to services makes low-maintenance materials essential. In addition, the home operates as a vacation rental, so its doors and windows must be able to withstand frequent use by guests.
Our solution
To achieve the aesthetic and durability the project required, we supplied PVC louver windows and doors in our Nogal finish. This allowed us to deliver the visual warmth of wood, along with excellent resistance to humidity and minimal long-term maintenance. It was the ideal combination for a remote property that needs both character and reliability.

A flagship project for MAFRA
Punta Jaguar represents what we value most as a company: understanding the client’s vision, designing solutions that respond to the environmental demands of each region, and delivering performance that lasts over time.
